Happy World Photography Day (im a day late LOL)

Photography has allowed me to really slow down and be patient in life while also being able preserve memories of those that I love and being able to share those tiny or big moments with others around the world and it’s only recently that I’ve been able to really enjoy the art form for what it is whether it’s to be able to tell stories from just one moment in time, connect with strangers /solo travelers and other photographers after being spotted with a camera alone, capturing moments that otherwise may have missed and not noticed, and documenting life in ways that I can look back later in my life and be like damn we were everywhere 🤣

Still longways to go but I think we made some progress? 🤔

2/20: May 2023 Pico de Arieiro, Madeira Island 🇵🇹
While on my 2 week solo trip, I did a group tour to visit the mountains and see the most beautiful sunset peaking over - the first time had no visibility and with forgotten sunglasses, I was able to go a second time for free (and met some new friends along the way!) the 40 degree weather micro climate was worth it 🤣

Blue Hour Recap 💙 my first time ever showcasing my photography alongside talented Asian and Asian American creatives to fundraise for new and existing AAPI spaces 🥹🫶 for someone who didn’t get to embrace their cultural identity for the first 20yrs or so of my life these photos from my last trip to China 2024 to visit my parents’ hometowns with them were a part of a collection of my memories and paying homage and gratitude for them and where they grew up - sort of like an apology but also brought new life into them through my perspective too - always scary to showcase bc my technical skills still have long ways to go but I think this is the sign to keep going ❤️ ty for everyone that came through with the overwhelming compliments love encouragement to keep sharing the art 🫶 and ty @sydneyliing @kateehada @ricespicemag @misoraprogram for letting me showcase my work 🥰

Echoes MV is finally out 🥹🫶 It’s been a year in the making and so excited that its finally out in the world for you to see 🥰 When Matt and I were catching up last year, he asked if I wanted to help out as one of the associate producers for this cinematic MV and pitched it as “A family of Vietnamese women across 3 generations rediscovering themselves during an accidental high trip on edibles (including the grandma)” and I was like wait yes bc the concept is funny to me and it turned from what is normally considered a taboo topic in Asian families into unexpected family bonding 🤣To Matt and Amy (the mastermind of this beautiful piece), thank you for bringing me on and Aidan for being an amazing producing partner! 🥹🫶🫶 Alongside the whole team, I’m really proud of us to make it happen 🤧❤️ Link in bio to watch the full MV!

Attempted a cinematic MV vlog for the first time! 😅

I had this idea in mind for a long while after spending time with my family, and as a child of immigrant parents, I realized that they too are really living for the first time too and trying to figure things out along the way - sometimes trips with them can be a lil hectic but the more I spend time with them, the more I cherish that time knowing that time is finite whether it’s watching them slowly age or how they’d get news of who left this world already. And we’re not going to get that time back.

While I’ve been reflecting on how I spend my own time, and with the uncertainty of time and my future, I learned how important it is to just embrace that phase and find the beauty in it, whether it’s to slow down and be more present, and even go on trips with the family. And whenever we’re on trips like these, they bring out the youthfulness of my family again (they’re really just children at heart too 🤭) This song also captured those feelings too so I wanted to use it to reflect the memories I have of these trips from the last 2 years with them 🥹🫶

The way this took a while to figure out from the mini story that I wanted to tell to recording the voiceover (in Mandarin mind you - I realized my voice is usually at higher range whenever I speak it lol 😵‍💫) adding some sound effects and visual effects to the color grading and more (i only used Edits to sync the music + fonts ahhah) but while it was a learning curve, it was also a lot of fun making this (finally) - had to just rip off the band aid and start making projects like this to fill my cup than being a perfectionist and overthinking it with decision paralysis lol

2025 is coming to an end and I wanted to take some to reflect the year starting with this NY trip I got to do with my parents last fall (lol) and had the idea to use one of my favorite songs of all time for this lil MV edit last year but didn’t get around to editing it until recently

This song honestly helped me get through the difficult moments in life + on repeat for me this year too when shit hits the fan sometimes and felt like falling somewhat behind in life but it was a reminder to myself to take things slow especially when I’m always out and about but don’t take much time for myself to just relax

And this trip with the parents is something I always want to remember because every time we do go on a trip together, I’m being reminded that they’re slowly aging in some ways and trying to cherish the time as much as I can left with them 🥹❤️ (and it’s NY! I got to bring my parents to speakeasy jazz bars and we were able to reunite with our friends while we’re at it 🤭)

Sort of a long overdue dump of footage, but will be trying to share more content, projects (maybe some vlogging? 👀) over the next few weeks to cap 2025 so hang in tight with me as I try and get edits in 🥰

I’ve had the intention to do a series of Postcards, Photographs and Cinematic vlogs/visualizers for my family birthdays (but we didn’t have enough time to finish these) so here’s pt 1 of belated birthday projects 😅

Ft. Mama Chen’s hometown, I really love how this city is a blend of a vibrant city life and nature, where I used to go back during the summer over the years and loved escaping the famous 西湖 (Xihu - West Lake) and these were some favorite moments captured summer 2024.

Sidequested for @demon_slayer_offcial ‘s US Red Carpet Premiere and screening now playing in theaters🥹😭❤️ I don’t know what I did to deserve this but it was truly an honor to be able to go and support for one of my favorite animes of all time since 2016 when the manga came out 😭

It’s a bit fitting in terms of the timing of the release of this film here how much of its universal themes that makes you think a lot about morals/values + ethics and how it gives you feelings towards demons essentially or allows you to start to understand their motives - the characters (especially for one of my favorite villains + his backstory that made a certain re-appearance from Mugen Train Arc 👀) are well written and the fight sequences deserves every amt of attention and immersion and from the biggest screen possible (animators deserve a raise fr 😮‍💨) + alongside the music from Yuki Kajiura and Go Shiina and voice acting that makes you want to root for them 😖 I normally watch the series in subbed but have to pay my respects for the Eng voice actors as well 🤯 Got to meet some of them as well + creators (and even one of my favorite seiyuus of all time Natsuki Hanae who’s the Japanese VA for Tanjiro came! 🙌 Almost a reunion too bc I first saw him speak at a panel for Demon Slayer at Anime Expo in 2024 👀)

The audience reactions were amusing from the cheering for their favorite slayers to the synchronization of everyone sniffling and grabbing their tissues 🤭 and yes I cried like 3x and might cry some more for the subbed version again soon lol

Please go watch it in theaters but ah if you don’t already know what Demon Slayer is all about, you might want to watch the series first before watching the films 😅

I’ve been wanting to do more of these lil travel videography edits this year whenever there’s free time ; Whenever I shoot while I’m spending half the days solo traveling (until friends get off work or when I’m actually solo traveling like Europe days - I miss that lol), it helps me capture memories and slow down while living more in the present 🙌

1yr post grad. 🤯

It’s been a crazy first year since graduating, with dreams, goals and expectations that were initially laid out, seemingly set, but this past year, life decided to take a couple detours and instead laid out the most unlinear paths I’ve been on so far.😵‍💫

It was a year filled with so much uncertainty and confusion, from the weight of the world and messy country down to the individual level of re-figuring out and reprioritizing career and dream goals to even realizing how difficult it can be to see friends and loved ones again post grad.🥲

It’s the balance of the feeling the utmost pride of friends or loved one’s personal and professional successes versus dealing with imposter syndrome at times, and the balance of chasing dreams at one’s own pace and “but will I ever get to that level?”🤔

It’s also been a year of unlearning some habits and learning for personal growth while rediscovering old passions and igniting new passions. And hence the chronic sidequesting, chasing the feeling of keep the engines running but getting the reminders to take it easy and relax more. The whole coming of age experience through the good and the ugly (but we’re now known as a sidequesting master oops LOL🥸)

But honestly, maybe that’s the beauty of it, figuring it all out at your pace, hold onto moments that matter, take on those sidequests and side passions, and live in the present more- and that’s just a ✨tiny✨ part of what life is about.👀

After all, we’re all living our own timelines and can live multiple careers, dreams, and multiple lives :) 🥰

This goes to all the friends and people I’ve met this past year, from being able to reunite and/or re-connect to meeting new friends with all the memories made in between (including me crashing over owe y’all one 😭) And to the ones that supported me through whatever this journey is since day 1, love y’all.🫶

And really, “what was that” year oh @lorde 🥸

A lil end of year recap from the lens’s perspective ☺️ Life’s been a movie 😅

I wanted to try something different and this year was the first year that I wanted to learn more on videography from framing and composition to color grading given the love for cinematography (but I’m still terrible at it and your girl can’t do that with a metal spine 🥲).

And so this is a lil reel of some footage documented and compiled from this year from some travels and roadtrips to friend shenanigans 🫶

Since this year’s Spotify wrapped didn’t really give us our genres, auras, and whatnot, I wanted to try this lil project for fun through curating songs to visuals while giving a tiny insight to my music tastes 😉

I think this year was the year where I was most… sentimental and introspective so I was leaning toward songs that I deeply resonated with and reflects me and what we went through this past year 😖

Restarting this account with this lil reel that I made a couple of months ago, as I wanted to have more flexibility/expand beyond landscape photos to more street/lifestyle (even those “cinematic vlogs” hah) photography/videography. I realized that more of my photography and videography are aligned with that, and can do more with this account . I dropped a couple of hints with my Instagram Stories from Madeira video to Italy videography, and excited to reshape it!

I’m still a complete beginner when it comes to filming/editing these lil videos and long ways to go but I hoped that I was able to capture just a glimpse of what those 6 months meant to me 🥰
